Chad asked Crystal to marry him recently and guess what? SHE SAID YES! So to commemorate the occasion, this amazing couple asked us to photograph their engagement session. So with a perfect day Iconographic Images set out to San Marco then off to some spots downtown. I told Chad up front that there would be a lot of kissing involved, and you could tell he was really bummed about that but he did manage to power through and we got some great shots. We had the privilege of photographing Christina & Jason's wedding in Orlando over the weekend. What a day it was, the girls started their day by getting hair and makeup done by Kate Collins, a local makeup and hair artist, she really did not have to do to much as all the girls were pretty to start with, even so Kate did a great job and was very nice. The ceremony took place at Emmanuel Episcopal Church, which just happened to be where Christina's mother and father were married at, really cool. After the I dos were done we moved over to the reception hall at The Rosalind Club on Lake Eola, This place was great, not to big and not to small, just right, the second floor balcony really gave us some nice vantage points for some cool shots. The food and decor was great. The flowers were provided by Jill Paris at Flowers by Paris. Joe the DJ from Orlando Event Pros kept the tunes flowing all night, for those that don't know the Dj can really make or break the evening and Joe was exceptional. All the vendors worked together to make a good day great.
We had a blast working with these two, you can see Jason light up when she is around, and you really should have seen his face when he laid eyes on her in that awesome dress, wow. Their friends and family made us feel as though we have known them forever and not just the hired help, a truely great group of people that we feel honored for having met them all. Best of luck to these two, I doubt that they will need it though as they start their new lives together.

Jeannine & Justin just got married and iconographicimages was honored to be part of their big day. The wedding was on the beach at One Ocean hotel in Atlantic beach, the ceremony was very nice and the weather was near perfect. Kelli and Matt are soon to be married so it was time to do their engagement photos. They had a special connection to St Augustine so off we went. It is one of my favorite places to go and shoot, the backdrops are nearly endless and so many nooks to drop into that make for some awesome portraits. It was a beautiful day and after we got warmed up these two were looking like seasoned models, kissing and posing all up and down St George street. Ciara and Daniel wedding at San Juan del Rio church and reception at Maggianos

We did their enagament session a while back and now here is the follow up wedding. The wedding was at the San Juan Del Rio church in jacksonville, this a beautiful church, it was recently built so everything was well lit with plenty of natural and spot lighting. The reception moved to the Town Center at Maggianos italian resturant, it was a cozy setting and an amazing bar. We went outside and walked around to get great images around the fish pond.

Sharon is a long time friend and client, as you can see she is expecting a new addition to the family. We had to wait longer than normal for her because she is so thin you can't tell she is pregnant from the front or back, so profile shots were in order. Sharon is an absolute natural in front of the camers and always gets some great images, hope you agree.

Ciara and Daniel are getting married soon, so we spent the day in St Augustine for their engagement photo session. We started out at the fort then around St George street stopping every few minutes to let them hug and kiss, these two are so in love, it shines through in his eyes every time he looks at her. Bridget contacted us about doing some engagement portraits for her recently, which we were more then happy to do. Normally we shoot our engagement sessions as part of our wedding packages but she only needed the E session done, so of we went. Since she is from GA. and still lives there for now and her fiance lives here in Jacksonville, she wanted some shots by the beach, after all this is Florida right? We really lucked out with the weather since it was overcast and the temps were ok and no rain it worked out perfect. I think we got some great images for them and we hope they like them, I know I do, it is always great to work with a couple that were just naturals in front of the cameras, it was like we were not even there. Lisa and Brian hail from New York, they decided to get married in St Augustine at the Oldest House and we had the opportunity to capture their wonderful day. Lisa's sister found us and referred us to Lisa, they made a trip down here a few months ago and we did their engagement session then even though the weather was terrible the only day they could do it, we did luck up and caught a break and got some nice shots.

Jenna came to us almost a year ago so excited about her big day, she wanted us to know that the photography would have great importance in the whole event, from the engagement session, bridals and the wedding day and she wanted edgy and different. We jumped for joy because those words are music to a photographers ears, so the engagement images are awesome and her Bridals were amazing, now on to the big day.

What a fun couple, was what we said after we left them. Alicia and Scott are from Cleveland and came to Amelia Island for their wedding. They came to IconographicImages to photograph their wedding day, so we gave it a go and had so much fun with them. Scott was loose and really enjoys playing around with his bride, Alicia seems to enjoy his antics and she gets some good laughs out of him. My grandmother once told me that the happiest couples were the ones who laughed everyday, like the old saying goes, Live Laugh and Love for a full day and you will have a full life. Michael was a groomsman at Vicky and Bobby's wedding we photographed last year, so when he decided to give us a closer look after he saw what we did for Vicky, now here we are at Michael and his new wife Davita's wedding. They had a beautiful ceremony at the downtown public library, the courtyard is amazing as is the rest of the building. These two can really dance, I mean they came out and put on a show for everyone that would have gotten high scores from the judges on Dancing with the stars. They always say if you want to see what a young lady will look like then look at her mother, well if that is the case then Michael should be thrilled because I thought that Davita's Mom was her sister when I saw her, they look so much alike. It gets better though because her grandmother looks great as well and all three have the most amazing smiles.
Michael is of Greek heritage so when the whole family hit the dance floor they formed up in circles and danced the night away, though i wanted to see some dishes smash they were smart and put them away after diner, darn the luck.

Kim is expecting, very soon, so we had to get her in asap. Kim is radiant and truly glowing, she and her husband stopped in for this belly shoot. Though a little apprehensive at first she placed her trust in us and you can see the resulting images are wonderful. Jacksonville Mud run 2010

I had the chance to go out to the old Cecil Field base where the M.S society held the 2nd annual Mud Run. There were 2800 runners covering 6 miles through some nasty terrain, I concentrated on my boys from the JFRD teams, I know I missed many of them but here is what I got.
BTW the team from station 4 won 1st place in the uniform team division beating the cops, way to go guys! You can view these pix HERE

Lisa and her Fiance' Brian came down from New York to visit family and have their engagement session shoot by us as well. Lisa was from the Jacksonville area originally but is now residing New York city, she decided she wanted to have her wedding down here to be closer to family and old friends. They are getting married in St. Augustine in a few months. Everyone thought when we scheduled that the weather would be decent but we were in for a surprise when it was colder here than in New York, and it was worsened by rain. Since we had a limited amount of time we made the most it and powered through.

This great couple wanted to get married somewhere warmish for a late December wedding and seeing as they are from Indianapolis I guess Amelia Island fit the bill. For the native Floridians it was freezing but they were fine with the weather, anyway The Addison was the spot they chose and Bob over there had the place all dressed up for the holidays as was the case for the whole town. Damitra has a very unique look about her and her style, she was absolutely gorgeous and worked the camera quite well, Adrian was a bit nervous early on but seemed to melt when she made her appearance. Damitra's sister and her husband made the trip and provided some support for her sis, she is also expecting in the coming months, so we wish John and Bianca all the best. Jenna and Chris booked us for their wedding next year and said they really wanted something different than what she had seen around, so after viewing some of our work she got us. This Engagement session was a blast for us to do, we hit several spots around town and really let them be themselves. The weather was perfect but we lost light early due to the time change but it did not stop us, we just broke out the lights and kept going. Chris is a firefighter here and he wanted some shots at his station, which we were more than happy to do, Jenna picked up a dress for this shoot as well as an upcoming trash the dress shoot. Becky and Nathan wanted a warmer weather small wedding in Florida, coming from Va. it seemed as though it would be no problem right? Well mother nature tossed a curve ball at us and from out of the blue a cold front moved in and it was downright cold, it had to be at least 64 deg, which is freezing for Jacksonville anyway. This young couple and their family came down and had a wonderful ceremony at The Addison. We had a great time photographing their Amelia Island wedding. Jilli and Alexa came to see us the other day so we could capture these two doing what kids and babies do. Jilli is a sweet little girl and it shows in the softness in her eyes, she will also play up to the camera which is an indication that she has been the center of attention as well as the focus of many cameras. Little sister Alex is now in the picture and and she is very curious about everything and again you can see in her eyes the wonder of just how amazing it is to experience the world for the first time. Lilly is a sweet and sassy little thing, she just lights up the room and everyone in it with her smile. Lilly is a natural performer and played up to camera so effortlessly we were done before we knew it, her Grandpa wanted some individual shots with the two of them which were more than happy to do. Laura and Peter came down from Georgia to elope at The Addison B&B in Amelia, Bob, the owner really has a great venue for these simple affairs and he does it up right for each couple. Laura and Peter were very nice to work with and were looking forward to starting their life together back in Ga. This is now MR and MRS. Worth. Ray and Karen were married and had an absolutely perfect wedding. Ray is a friend of mine and he happens to be a firefighter so he played it up at the reception with an awesome grand entrance with his gear on, he stripped some off and crawled over to to bride to retrieve the garter, the ladies all went bananas over it as did we. Ray and Karen both adore each other you can see it in their eyes and the way they kiss, which by the way is often. My very good friends are expecting, Mike is a great friend of mine and he and his lovely wife Amanda are now expecting their first child and HE will be here soon. Amanda looks positively radiant. Dare and John were recently Wed at the beautiful Club Continental in Orange Park FL. This day was a little breezy but the wonderful view of the river and style of the building made for a great venue. The couple had many friends show and they all partied well into the night, John and the boys enjoyed some high end cigars on the patio while the girls danced. We had some time set aside for some of those WOW images, and I believe that they turned out pretty darn well. Here is a sneak peak I hope you enjoy

Ed and Suzanne were wed at the Addison on Amelia Island on a wonderful Tuesday evening. The ceremony followed Happy Hour in the courtyard of the Inn where everyone gathered to have some wine and witness these two make their commitment to each other. The marriage was performed by Bob, the owner of the The Addison and witnessed by an entire crew of Addison guests. A good time was had by all. The couple was then whisked away by horse and carriage for a romantic tour of Amelia Island. What a fun afternoon!

Well everyone, it is official now, Whitney and Graham are MARRIED! What an amazing couple. These two are meant for each other, very lighthearted and very fun to be around..... and when they are together you can tell that these two will be making each other laugh for all their days. After all what is the key to happiness? Live Laugh and Love, right? Kim and I truly enjoyed meeting their families and sharing their day. The dads got on stage and tried out some vintage Sinatra with the band and the topper was without a doubt Grandpas rendition of "Tie a Yellow Ribbon on the old Oak tree". We just finished up our Easter photo shoots and want to thank BunBun for all of her hard work.....if you call sitting around all day eating carrots and alfalfa hard work. She was an awesome model, and the kids were pretty good too. We had a great time(even though working with kids and animals is kind of like herding cats). Kimberly and Nathan are Married!

We spent the 14th of March with Kimberly and Nathan and about 150 of their closest friends and family. The ceremony was at St. Pauls at the beach and the fabulous party was at Marsh Landing. We had so much fun with the two of them. They were up for anything......even rolling around in the grass. We hope all of those onlookers enjoyed it! Holly and Chris just got hitched, and we had the honor of capturing their day for them and it was a nice one. Chris, like most of the grooms was calm and cool but very excited to finally marry the love of his life. Holly was full of nervous energy,but once the doors flew open and she laid eyes on Chris and he saw her, all the nerves were gone in a flash. Anyone who reads our blog knows that I am always looking to the eyes, they tell the true feelings, when these two look at each other it's like there is no one else on earth, they may not even realize it but they each get a small grin when ever they look at on another. We wish them the best of luck, but something tells me they won't need it.

Random thoughts on wedding photography

There are seemingly endless wedding ceremony locations that could serve as beautiful backdrops for weddings at any time of the year. It's just one more choice in a long list that already includes finding a florist, choosing a cake designer, selecting a wedding coordinator & of course picking the perfect wedding photographer. However, there are some very important things that every bride to be should consider when choosing the ceremony location that should not be overlooked.

You have already decided without a doubt that your wedding photos are what are most important to you. One question that I believe some brides don’t think to address is, “How will my choice of ceremony location affect my wedding photographer?” With this, I’m referring to churches or venues with strict policies in place that may prevent the photographer from capturing the emotion & core of the day. With these types of restrictions, photographers may be limited to balconies, which vary from either the sides of the altar and/or the rear of the church or other undesirable locations. Be sure to inquire from the church coordinator their photography policy, if any.

With the latter, your wedding photography is limited to views of the backs of the couple. Of course there are reasonable restrictions, such as no flash, which is not really an issue. However, to be restricted to a balcony with limits to capturing different perspectives may be viewed as a challenge.

In the past I've had a client express to me how important the images were to her during our initial consultation. However, she selected a church that restricted ALL photography in the sanctuary. So here we are shooting through a glass door with a long zoom in an attempt to capture those afore mentioned moments. Not only was I limited to the rear balcony, the guests were also not allowed to, but many did anyway, take pictures. Learning this, I realized I wouldn’t be able to capture the bridal procession, the groom’s expression upon seeing his bride, the bride & her father coming down the aisle, a mother wiping tears of joy from her cheek, etc.

There are a few things you can do to avoid this type of surprise on your wedding day. Again, be sure to ask your venue coordinator and the officiate if there will be restrictions placed on your photographer. If you should choose a church or venue with photography restrictions in place, be sure to discuss possible options/solutions with your wedding photographer. It’s possible that certain shots can be recreated after the ceremony, thus capturing the images you desire and in some cases the photographer may be able to negotiate some leniency that may allow them to capture more of your ceremony as it happens.

Will be getting married soon and we got a chance to spend the day with them just walking around having fun. You can see that they are in love and really enjoy each other after all that is the way it is supposed to be, right? Well what ever "it"is that you are supposed to have, these two have it by the bucket. We played around and they were up for most anything as you can tell, they even jumped in a store window display and "vogued' for us. We had fun and the engagement book came out great we are looking forward to the wedding day, we will see what they can get into then. Should be good.

Dusty is one hell of a guitarist, he is touring with the "Rev. Al Green", this has him all over the world. He does call Jacksonville home and recently Schecter Guitars liked him so much that they want him to play their instruments exclusively. I think she was a little nervous at first but they warmed up and the three of them gave us some great images that they can enjoy for a lifetime. quickly found out that the strawberries weren't real, but

that didn't stop her from trying one out. "Yucky!" Now I have a

fake strawberry with an adorable little bite taken out of it.

We tried to get her to hold the "I am 2" letters for us, but Abbey has her own agenda.......being cute. She may not have done what we wanted, but we got some awesome shots. The camera LOVES her, look at those baby blues. No wonder this little lady wins all the beautiful baby contests!

Wow what a rush, we shot this on a major bridge downtown and with the combined efforts and cooperation of the police and fire dept. we managed to close the bridge for a few minutes in order to get the shot we needed. Lizzie and her mother came to us wanting something a little different than the same old dance images that the dance studio she attends were supplying. It did not take long for us to figure out that Lizzie is a natural in front of the lens, very relaxed and playful as you can see. The first thing that I noticed were her eyes, they have an amazing shape and they show a lot of emotion, well beyond her young age. I know that I sound like a broken record, but I truly believe that the only way to capture the essence of ones soul is to get those eyes, that is my focal point in the majority of my images that we capture.

I hope that Lizzie and her mother like these, I know we had
a great time working with them. Lizzie is a wanna be rock star as she had a try at some guitar hero action with my sons guitar, can you say DIVA. ;) I can't wait to see them back again in the future, maybe for those senior pix.

Alicia and Phillip the wedding.You may have noticed a common theme we seem to have is "fun" as in we have fun working with whomever. Well this wedding was no exception, once again we had a great time working with these two. We usualy meet a couple before the day of the wedding, but in this case, e-mails back and forth were all we had. Nevertheless, we hit it off with them right away. They were fun and willing to give us the time to get some amazing shots.It never fails to amaze me that you can really see just how in love they are just by looking at their images, the eyes do not lie. If you see the rest of the series you can see that the extra time they gave us payed off, they played along even though we were somewhat pressed for time. Just a few minutes can truely make memories that last a lifetime, just like Alicia and Phillip. Congrats.

Babies First Birthday! It is so amazing to see just how fast these little ones grow.

Babies are great and we enjoy getting to see the joy that they bring to a family. Our style of conveying that joy is a bit different with some lighting drama we can change the mood from light to a very warm and intimate environment. With the Hughes family you can see the love for each other by the way they look at each other, eyes don't lie just look at that baby, locked in on mom and dad with that big smile, they made our job easy. A good friend of ours has this bike that he loves to ride, I mean why not I know I would. It has turned into his hobby and a lifestyle. Anyone who rides knows the feeling of the open road and cruisin with no place to go while just enjoying the trip. These machines are well taken care of and given only the best, so I tried to capture the details and the character of this "hog" to give Jim something unique to hang in his office. We had the opportunity several months ago to photograph Laura and her soon to be husband Craig for their engagement series, and what a session that turned out to be. As you can see, Laura photographs very well and made my job very easy, what a wonderful couple the two of them are. Their wedding day is approaching fast so we had to get her in to shoot her formals, with her I wanted something a bit different to set apart from the everyday formals that we have all seen a million times over. I believe we did just that, a little dramatic lighting and voila, we did squeeze in the requisite shots but the results of the "less than formals" are simply WOW.

New Year and new blog

We ring in the new year with a new outlook on the future of our studio. With the wonderfull relationships we have built with our clients we have gotten kinda busy around here so we are going to be moving forward and as always try new ways to reinvent ourselves as well as our photography. This blog spot is one way for us to be able to communicate with everyone on the things going on around K&J. This is a little different for us so please be patient as we figure this out. As sessions come up we will post some pix on here so you will have an idea as to what we are up to as well as keep you informed as to what events are coming up and any relevant seasonal promotions we may have.
